Na het gezaghebbende blad Nature stelt nu ook de Britse krant The Guardian zich op achter de Nederlandse statistici die de kansberekeningen in de zaak Lucia de B. kraken.

Onder de titel ‘Lies, damned lies and statistiscs’ veegt columnist Ben Goldacre, auteur van de Bad Science-column in deze Britse krant, de vloer aan met de redeneertrant die in deze zaak wordt gevolgd. ‘In the three years before Lucia did work on the ward in question there were seven deaths. In the three years that Lucia did work on that ward there were six deaths. It seems odd that the death rate should go down on a ward at the precise moment that a serial killer arrives on the scene.’
